Menopause & Peri-Menopause Training

Women's fitness is a passion of mine and being over 45 myself, I have become acutely aware of fitness and menopause / peri-menopause. Menopause brings a range of changes and the number one thing nearly all female clients agree on, is, it’s a LOT harder for them to lose weight than it was in their 20’s or even 30’s.

I have undertaken specific studies in menopause and fitness, PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), Incontinence and Pelvic Floor, learning how I can help as a personal trainer. I understand that energy, weight loss and how you exercise often changes for women in their 40's or 50's and how that can impact fitness and results.

Shifts in hormones, especially oestrogen; generally leads to weight gain and high risk of osteoporosis. Menopause and peri-menopause symptoms also include sleep disturbances, mood swings, hot flushes, incontinence, loss of libido, loss of balance and more.

The positive news is that physical activity can help relieve, manage and prevent many symptoms. Strength training in particular is recommended during and after menopause as a great way to burn calories, strengthen muscles, reduce body fat and help with bone strengthening.


Sessions include

Cardio, resistance and functional training, with a focus on strength and balance, just the same as for any personal training clients. I also have qualifications in pelvic floor & incontinence, so can spend time specifically on these muscles, with cues how and when to engage them, core, flexibility and stretching, plus more.
